  • Coffee

  • Granola

  • Fruit

  • Fruit smoothies

Those quick / convenient CARB heavy breakfast choices are setting you up for failure…

As we age it’s SO important to focus on getting protein in each meal. Why you ask??

We are unfortunately up against muscle loss. Life also presents more stress in our body vs when we are young and carefree. High amounts of stress = high amounts of cortisol. Chronic high levels of cortisol is a sure way to initiate muscle wasting. Later years of life also can increase insulin resistance. All of this to say, hello fat gain if not kept in check.

Some ways to keep these in check are:

  • Ditch the high sugar breakfasts

  • Increase your protein intake to 30g

  • Avoid the coffee-only breakfast which only increases cortisol

Unfortunately incorporating protein is often something that has to be thought about and planned for because it’s not readily available. So don’t let your weekdays creep up on you without planning ahead.

How you start your day is usually a clear indication on how the rest of your day goes so make it amazing, packed with protein and low in sugar!
