Meet Leah Sherlock: Host of the WOD You Talkin About Podcast

Meet Leah Sherlock, the host of the WOD You Talkin’ About podcast, a CrossFit podcast that is growing rapidly in the sport of fitness. On the podcast, Leah has great conversations with athletes and pioneers of the sport, and brings her podcasting background to help advance the conversation. We sat down with Leah to chat about all things podcast, what her vision is for the future, and to learn a little more about her.

  • So Leah, tell us a little bit more about you. Where are you from? What is your background? What do you like to do (outside of all things CrossFit, of course)?

“I’m from/ live in the South Coast of England, by the beach - one of my favourite places to be. My background in Podcasting/ Media is actually Music (Country to be more specific) - I run another podcast called ‘Behind the Sounds’ which delves into the Songwriting of Country Music. When I’m not at a CrossFit event, you’ll find me either at a gig, with a record on, or watching One Tree Hill!”

  • What drew you to CrossFit?

“The ‘Fittest on Earth’ docs - I watched them and was so intrigued. I just found the stories of all the athletes so amazing, and couldn’t believe I found fitness interesting! I found a PT who coached CrossFit and did a few sessions with him before joining a box, and the rest as they say is history!”

  • Tell us how your amazing podcast WOD You Talkin About came to be!

“I knew how to run a podcast, and I loved talking about CrossFit - so I thought why not put two and two together. I always want to know more than what we hear on the livestreams and after workouts, and love to know what it takes, so really the podcast was born out of being nosy! But it has paid off.”

  • Who is your favorite guest you’ve had so far?

“I genuinely have loved every episode. Arielle Loewen was a dream, Lauren Kalil gave me personally some great advice and I loved talking to someone who is in and amongst it but not on the floor. Jamie Simmonds was probably my number 1 dream guest and so that was pretty cool. And we have an episode coming out soon with Rory McKernan, which has some of my favourite conversations (this is coming out on the 2nd Nov so depending on when this is out may be already released!).”

  • What do you hope is the impact of your podcast?

“For my guests, I hope it gives them an opportunity to share more of their own stories and also allow them to promote businesses and opportunities etc. For listeners, I want to give them good, enjoyable conversation that enables them to learn more about the sport and their favourite athletes.”

  • If you could have a dream guest on the podcast, who would it be?

“I have been lucky enough to have a few dream guests already. But I have to say probably the GOATs, Tia Toomey, Rich Froning and Mat Fraser, that would be pretty epic. Plus Dave Castro, as I would just love to pick his brains!”

  • Is there anything else you would like our audience to know about you or your podcast?

“I would love to build a community around the Podcast - so any comps etc. around the globe I would love to be a part of. I would love to bring myself or the show to more events, and meet as many people as possible! Also, maybe that I do Voiceover work, Hosting and MC-ing too, and am available for work hehe!”
