Should I Buy Low Fat Products?
Did you follow the 90’s low-fat / no-fat craze? It was all the rage…
Women were told fat makes you fat.
So in turn they were told to eat low-fat and no-fat foods.
Unfortunately, many foods which are modified to be low-fat or no-fat are far worse than the original food. We see many companies use “low-fat” which typically means they are adding chemicals to the food as a substitute. That sounds terrible, right?
Along with chemical laden foods, excluding fats from the diet means the body has little building blocks to create hormones.. You know, those things that are vitally important for all functions in the body.
On top of that, fats are needed for bile secretion. Bile is a powerful digestive fluid which acts as an antimicrobial when secreted which helps clean out toxins in the body. It also is necessary to absorb fat-soluble vitamins.
So when we don’t have fat (cholesterol) we aren’t building appropriate hormone profiles. We also aren’t absorbing vitamins. Lastly, we aren’t eradicating harmful opportunistic bacteria in the body.
Now think about how that situation overtime can break down your body and leave you incapable of losing body fat and gaining muscle. Once you reach your perimenopause years and hormones start to decline even more you are left feeling completely broken and defeated.
You are not broken.
Food is a powerful tool that can prevent sickness and heal the body at any time. It’s not too late to undo the damage.
It’s also never wise to follow diet culture.. Instead, keep it simple, balanced and nutrient dense!
