3 Tips to Improve Your Snatch Stability

Looking to improve your stability in a snatch? Use these 3 tips to help:

1) Pause In Your Receiving Position

  • Pause for 2 - 3 seconds in the bottom of your Snatch. Be strict, squeeze the barbell and don't move at all during this time. Stand and hold for another 2 - 3 seconds to reinforce a strong overhead finish position.

2) Try Different Snatch Complexes

  • Something as simple as a Snatch + OHS complex can help improve your strength in the bottom. A Snatch + Snatch Balance complex will require more stability as it is more dynamic.

3) Add In Accessory Exercises

  • Either as a primer before you snatch or finish the session with these stability exercises: KB Turkish Get Ups, Single Arm Overhead Carries & Bamboo/Earthquake bar presses.
