Embrace Your Power: The Choice You're Avoiding Holds the Key to Your Freedom
Hello, baddies! Today, let's embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Every year I choose a word of the year. Last year, my word was uncomfortable as I was embarking on founding a nonprofit, and talk about the unknown and steep learning curves! This year, my word is Grow.
My favorite quote is: “Brave People Show Up Scared”. This quote feels like my life mantra. “I want kids, but I've never been a mom… I want to start a nonprofit but have never even worked within a nonprofit… I want to try CrossFit but what if I am not ‘fit enough’…” and so on.
I have found that life can be filled with the decisions we avoid that hold the key to our true potential. This creates that mindset of being stuck. The power lies within the choice you're avoiding.
Unveiling the Illusion of Being Stuck:
It's easy to feel trapped in the rhythm of life, thinking that circumstances are dictating our path. The truth is you're not stuck; you're just standing at a crossroads. Life is an ever-changing kaleidoscope, and at every turn, you hold the power to choose how your story goes.
The Power of Choice:
Choice is the magic wand that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. It's not about the situation; it's about how you respond to it. I have become a risk taker, choosing is now my personal act of empowerment. (I mean we moved across the country unplanned with a 2-year-old and 5-week-old twins after driving by a dream house for sale). The first step to breaking free from the illusion of being stuck is to acknowledge the power you have within you. Make the choice, take the risk. Choose YOU.
Facing the Uncomfortable:
Often, the choices we avoid are the ones that lead us to growth (remember above, my word for 2024 is grow). Embracing change and stepping out of our comfort zones can be intimidating, but it's where the magic happens. Whether it's a career shift, a relationship decision, a move, or a personal commitment, remember that avoiding the choice won't make it disappear—it will only prolong the inevitable.
The Fear Factor:
Brave People Show Up Scared. Fear is a powerful force that often stands in the way of making decisions. It's okay to feel fear but don't let it dictate your choices. Instead, let it be the compass guiding you towards what truly matters. Face your fears, and you'll discover that courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. Remember the quote above and write it down- Brave People Show Up Scared. Remember, the words we tell ourselves shape our reality.
As you start making the choices you've been avoiding, you'll witness the beauty of your life unfolding. I once made a shirt for Girls Gone Rx that said: not fragile like a flower, fragile like a bomb. It was combining my favorite flower and a bomb (I should bring it back). Embrace the uncertainty, for within it lies the opportunity for growth, resilience, and a life lived authentically.
You are not stuck, and the choice you've been avoiding is the very key to your freedom. Embrace it, dance with it, and watch as your life transforms into the masterpiece it was always meant to be. Choose wisely, choose boldly, and remember: that you hold the power to shape your life.
I am off to work on GROWTH for 2024! What is your word going to be?
