Taylor Swift and the Chiefs
Alright, we are finally writing about THE hot topic: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. But we aren’t going to be going gaga over their fairy tale romance (even though I am V much rooting for them).
What we are writing about today is the insanity going on in the media.
The Chiefs are not so secretly on a losing streak at the moment. The apparent cause: Taylor Swift. You might be scratching your head thinking, how? We are too.
Apparently, there are many social posts and articles going around right now saying that Taylor is the “Yoko Ono of the Chiefs”. They even created the verb “Yoko Ono-ing”. Plus all the buzz about her presence at the games being a distraction.
Even sports commentators started getting involved in the conversation. “Feels like it’s about time to call Taylor Swift a distraction,” said Skip Bayless.
While everyone is giving their take, you are going to get our take now.
Our take
We were unaware that Taylor Swift actually played on the Chiefs. Oh wait… SHE DOESN’T. She actually has quite literally nothing to do with how they perform or how they play.
Why is the public’s answer to immediately blame a woman for a large group of men’s failures? Apparently that is the easier answer than the simple fact that the Chiefs just aren’t playing well. Blame the men? No. Let’s blame the woman who is a simple spectator.
Somehow the mere presence of a powerful, influential woman is causing a team of men to lose.
If every single player on the Chiefs is distracted by the presence of 1 woman, then that seems like a “them” problem, and not a “her” problem.
Why can’t we hold men accountable for their actions. If they played better, they would win. Regardless of who was there in attendance.
Last bit:
Can we please stop with tearing successful women down?
We get it, she makes more money than you ever will. There is no point in bringing her down to make yourself feel better. Posting nasty things about her on the internet isn’t actually doing anything for anyone. In fact, it’s actually just setting women back generations.
So please, if you are too famous: do NOT go attend a live football game. It might be too distracting to the men playing! ***sarcasm
